Clean Power Plan Listening SessionOn Wednesday, October 28 the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection will be holding a listening session in Schuylkill County on the federal Clean Power Plan. During these statewide sessions, residents are invited to share and listen to remarks regarding the reduction of carbon pollution across the state. I will be testifying during this session and I encourage you, and anyone you know, to participate in this discussion about this plan and its environmental impact on the state. It is also important to note the critical role the anthracite coal industry has, and will continue to have, on the state’s growth and vitality in regards to creating jobs and generating revenue. The theme of a recent public hearing in Pottsville emphasized the industry’s significance to Pennsylvania. Brian Rich, President of the Reading Anthracite Company, put it best when he said, “In the United States, we have a war ON coal by this administration, but in other parts of the world, there’s a war FOR coal.” Watch the clip here. The listening session in Schuylkill County will be held at Penn State Schuylkill in the John E. Morgan Auditorium from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. For more information about the listening session, please click here. If you would like participate as a speaker, please register by calling 717-783-8727. | |
