Argall, Knowles Announce $4.5 Million in Funding for Berks County

HARRISBURG – State Senator David G. Argall (R-29) and State Representative Jerry Knowles (R-124) today announced state funding for three projects in Berks County through the Pennsylvania Industrial Development Authority (PIDA).

The loans approved will support a variety of projects that will enhance the following companyies efforts to expand their operations.

  • Hamburg Real Estate Investments, LLC – $2,000,000 to assist in the acquisition and renovation of a 144,000 square foot building in Hamburg leased by Advanced H2O for water bottling.
  • Custom Milling and Consulting, Inc. – $540,000 to assist in the expansion of an 11,250 square foot manufacturing facility in Maidencreek Township.

“These projects will create jobs and new opportunities for businesses in Berks County,” Rep. Knowles said. “I’m pleased that this funding will help grow our economy during this tough economic recession,” Sen. Argall added.

These projects are projected to create approximately 89 jobs over a three-year period.

The Greater Berks Development Fund was also awarded $2,000,000 to assist in the acquisition and installation of infrastructure to serve a proposed 130 acre industrial park the Greater Berks Development Fund is developing in Perry Township.

PIDA offers low-interest loans for infrastructure acquisition, creation and renovation projects primarily for manufacturers, industrial developers, research and development firms, agricultural processors and employers looking to establish national or regional headquarters in Pennsylvania.
