HARRISBURG – Speaker of the House Keith McCall (D-122) and Senators David Argall (R-29) and Raphael Musto (D-14) today announced $1.690 million in state grants for several Carbon County projects.
Funding for projects include:
- $905,855 – Construction of a new firehouse in Palmerton Borough
- $599,543 – Phase 2 of the Packerton Business Park. Redevelopment of this Brownfield site is projected to create 591 full-time jobs and generate at least $12.4 million in annual state and local tax revenues upon the completion of the park.
- $76,650 – Removal and Construction of the Court Street retaining wall in Franklin Township
- $108,450 – Enhancements to Stoney Ridge Park and Recreational Center to include construction of baseball fields, basketball courts, as well as stormwater improvements and landscaping. The park serves residents of Lower Towamensing and Towamensing Townships, as well as Bowmanstown and Palmerton Boroughs
“These projects are outstanding examples of how the Commonwealth helps us invest in ourselves and a brighter future,” said Speaker McCall. “From helping our volunteer firefighters protect our communities to building a 21st century economy with a state-of-the-art business climate, these grants get the job done. I was proud to stand with Sen. Argall and Sen. Musto to advocate for these funds, and I know they’ll go a long way to help make Carbon County even better.”

The state’s Commonwealth Financing Authority has administered the grant funds for these projects.
