Senator Argall to Host ‘Senator for a Day’

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN – On Thursday, May 10, 2012, Senator David G. Argall (R-29) is hosting ‘Senator for a Day’ with eleven local area high schools. The program, which will be held in the Student Community Center at Penn State’s Schuylkill Campus in Schuylkill Haven from 8:00am – 1:30pm, allows high school students to propose legislation, hold votes and debate issues critical to state government. The unique opportunity allows students to learn and experience the legislative process.

Argall, who has hosted similar programs in years past, noted the importance of the unique opportunity area high school students get to experience.

“This program provides the hands-on opportunity that students learn and hear about in the classroom,” said Argall. “I look forward to seeing our future decision makers in a real-life scenario discuss current affairs and issues.”

The following high schools will be participating in Senator for a Day:

  • Blue Mountain
  • Lehighton Area
  • Mahanoy Area
  • Marian Catholic
  • Minersville
  • Nativity BVM
  • Panther Valley
  • Pottsville
  • Schuylkill Haven
