JIM THORPE – State Sen. John Yudichak (D-14), state Sen. David Argall (R-29) and state Rep. Doyle Heffley (R-122) today reminded local seniors to come out to their 2013 Carbon County Senior Citizens Expo this Thursday at the Jim Thorpe Memorial Hall.
“Many times seniors are unaware of the many great programs and services available to them locally and our yearly Senior Citizens Expo certainly helps point many local senior citizens in the right direction,” Yudichak said. “This is our third year hosting the senior expo in Carbon County and we are hoping for our biggest turnout yet.”
The Senior Citizens Expo will run from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 12 at the Jim Thorpe Memorial Hall. The hall is located at 101 E. 10th St. in Jim Thorpe.
“As legislators for Carbon County, we work in a bipartisan manner to offer services for our local senior citizens,” Argall said. “Our annual Senior Citizens Expo is an excellent example of that because we bring all agencies and organizations offering services for our area’s seniors under one roof. This event provides an excellent opportunity for seniors to ask important questions and get answers on the spot.”
The free Senior Citizens Expo will feature more than 40 vendors from local, county and state agencies to answer questions and provide useful information about their programs and services to seniors.
“This is always a great day, with plenty of information for our local seniors,” Heffley added. “It always draws a big crowd. It is always a pleasure to work with Senators Argall and Yudichak.”
The legislators will also be collecting non-perishable items to donate to the local food bank at the expo and ask that attendees consider bringing a donation.
