MAHANOY CITY – Senator David G. Argall (R-29) announced his local offices received forms for the state’s Property Tax/Rent Rebate program.
The income eligibility level for the Property Tax Rebate Program is $35,000 a year, excluding half of Social Security income, and the maximum rebate is $650, but the supplemental rebates for qualifying homeowners can boost rebates to $975. The income eligibility level for the Rent Rebate Program is $15,000 a year, excluding half of Social Security income, and the maximum rebate is $650. Pennsylvania residents must be 65 years or older, widows and widowers 50 years or older, or those 18 years or older with disabilities to qualify.
“My office staff assists many local residents to complete applications and submit them to the Department of Revenue,” Argall said.
Local residents may contact Sen. Argall’s office toll free at 1-877-327-4255 for the location of the nearest office, applications, assistance in completing the forms, and are reminded to provide all necessary income, property tax or rental information required to process forms.
The deadline to apply for a rebate on property taxes or rent paid in 2013 is June 30, 2014. Rebates will be distributed beginning on July 1, 2014. The program is supported by the Pennsylvania Lottery and slots gaming revenue.
