HARRISBURG – The Senate of Pennsylvania unanimously approved a measure that would address multiple DUI offenses on Wednesday, March 12. Senator David G. Argall (R-29) applauded the Senate’s passage to address the serious issue of multiple DUI offenses.
“This proposal corrects a current law to make sure repeat offenders serve the maximum amount of prison time,” Argall said. “This is a very serious matter and we should not let those who endanger our families get off easy.”
Specifically, Senate Bill 1239, sponsored by Senator John Rafferty (R-44), would correct a drafting error within the current law to provide for grading offenses for driving under the influence when the offender has more than one previous violation.
The bill awaits consideration by the House Transportation Committee.
