HARRISBURG – The Senate Majority Policy Committee will hold a public hearing on September 15, 2016 to review the recently approved tax credit program for waterfront development projects, according to the committee chairman, Senator David G. Argall (R-Schuylkill/Berks).
The committee will hold the hearing at Talen Energy Stadium, which is situated along the Delaware River, to learn more about the tax credit program that was included in the 2016-17 state budget package lawmakers and the governor recently approved.
“Job creation is always as one of our region’s most important concerns, so it is critical to look for every opportunity to support economic growth,” Argall said. “This new idea offers a unique way for Pennsylvania communities along our rivers, large and small, to create new economic opportunities throughout the state.”
Senator Tom Killion (R-Chester/Delaware), who requested the hearing, championed the issue during his tenure as a state representative.
“The waterfront development tax credit is a big win for this region and I am glad to have been able to help get it signed into law,” Killion said. “This initiative will help spur investment in areas along the water all throughout the region. The Policy Committee’s work to bring stakeholders together as the Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) develops the program will make sure it is rolled out in the most effective manner.”
The committee has invited testifiers from DCED as well as local and statewide developers who will discuss the implementation and impact of the new program.
Testimony will be posted to Senator Argall’s website at www.SenatorArgall.com.
