Argall set to host over 100 high school students at upcoming student government event

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN – Senator David G. Argall (R-Schuylkill/Berks) is expecting record attendance at his upcoming annual “Senator for a Day” student government seminar on Thursday, May 11 at Penn State University Schuylkill Campus.

The event is set to kickoff at 8:30 a.m. with Sen. Argall welcoming the more than 100 local high school students from 13 area schools to his annual event.

Students will be split into four separate committees to debate bills that mirror similar proposals under consideration in the state legislature. For example, students will debate school property tax elimination, liquor store privatization, welfare reform measures, sales tax expansion to cover digital product transactions, among several others.

8:30 a.m.              Senator Argall remarks about understanding the legislative process
9:00 a.m.              Students attend their mock committee meetings to debate and vote on bills
11:00 a.m.           Lunch
11:40 a.m.           General session and Q&A with Sen. Argall
1:30 p.m.             Dismissal
