HARRISBURG – The November edition of the local TV program hosted by Senator David G. Argall (R-Schuylkill/Berks) focuses on education and career opportunities for current and prospective nurses in Berks and Schuylkill Counties.
“Our nurses really stepped up during this terrible pandemic,” Senator Argall said. “In Berks and Schuylkill Counties, we are blessed with numerous educational institutions and medical centers where nurses can develop fulfilling careers with family sustaining wages. We’re going to need at least one million new registered nurses by the end of the decade to meet our country’s healthcare demands.”
In this edition, Senator Argall discusses opportunities for nurses in the 29th District including the partnership between Berks County and Penn State Health St. Joseph, the inaugural class of medical students at the Drexel University College of Medicine at Tower Health, Alvernia University’s nursing program, and the new nursing simulation center at the Lehigh Carbon Community College’s Morgan Center in Tamaqua.
A recent ribbon cutting at Penn State Schuylkill’s new nursing suite is featured, with messages by Representative Joe Kerwin (R-Schuylkill/Dauphin), Schuylkill County Commissioner Barron “Boots” Hetherington, Dr. Patrick M. Jones who serves as Chancellor of Penn State Schuylkill, and Robert S. Carl, Jr. who serves as the President and CEO of the Schuylkill Chamber of Commerce. This new 4,000 square foot facility will support Penn State Schuylkill’s new four-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing program.
