February Argall Report: Bringing Economic Development to Our Area

FRACKVILLE – The February edition of the local TV program hosted by Senator David G. Argall (R-Schuylkill/Berks) focuses on the ongoing work that is being done to bring economic development and opportunities to this region.

“Our area serves as a hub for people who want to work and raise a family,” Senator Argall said. “A few weeks ago, my son AJ married his fiancée, Frances Zhang. Offering the happy couple, a toast, I reminded AJ and my new daughter in law how their ancestors left everything behind in places like Cornwall and Wales and Germany and China in order to create new lives here. It’s that spirt that encouraged the first Argalls who came to Pottsville in 1848 to take jobs as coal miners and shoemakers. Why? — They wanted to create a better life for themselves and their family.”

This edition of the Argall Report will feature a recent tour of the Highridge Logistics Center in Butler Township, the Mountain Valley Logistics Center now under construction in Mahanoy and Ryan Townships, and the new Bed, Bath, and Beyond facility in Frackville. Joining Senator Argall is Frank Zukas, President of the Schuylkill Economic Development Corporation (SEDCO) and Brian Stahl, Vice President of Development for NorthPoint Development.

NorthPoint Development, headquartered in Missouri, completed the demolition and redevelopment of the former Schuylkill Mall near Frackville. The lot is now occupied by a Bed, Bath, and Beyond distribution and fulfillment center staffed by Ryder Logistics. According to Ryder Logistics, this new center will create as many as 300 jobs and will have the potential for expansion as the center will provide merchandise to stores all across the Northeast.
