HARRISBURG – State grants totaling more than $600,000 were awarded to communities in northern Schuylkill County for key infrastructure projects today. State Sen. Dave Argall (R-29) and state Rep. Dane Watro (R-116) worked with local leaders to secure this highly competitive funding.
“Towns and neighborhoods in all corners of Schuylkill County will benefit from this funding,” said Argall.
“Small municipalities often have limited budgets, so the state support is a big help when they need to make equipment purchases,” said Watro. “It is another example of how Sen. Argall and I work together to benefit local communities.”
- East Union Township was awarded $86,528 to purchase and retrofit a new police vehicle.
- Kline Township was awarded $150,000 to purchase a wheel loader.
- Mahanoy Township was awarded $106,222 to purchase a patrol/command vehicle for the Mahanoy Township Police Department.
- McAdoo Borough was awarded $193,154 to purchase a new municipal dump truck and police cruiser.
- Shenandoah Borough, on behalf of the Pumpy Association, was awarded $77,996 to install a well and pavilion at the Pumping Station Dam, a well-known recreation area.
This funding was awarded through the Statewide Local Share Account program, which distributes gaming revenue to projects that support community and economic development.
