PENNVEST Approves Funding for Perry Township Project

HARRISBURG – A Berks County sewer project will receive a low-interest loan from the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST), according to State Senator David G. Argall (R-29).

As part of the current round of PENNVEST loan and grant initiatives, the Perry Township Municipal Authority will receive a $1,825,378 loan to construct a low pressure sanitary sewage collection system to connect to the wastewater collection and treatment system of the Borough of Shoemakersville.

The project consists of installation of approximately 8,600 linear feet of pressure sewer line within the right-of-way of Mohrsville Road, 69 grinder pumps and laterals and connection to the Borough of Shoemakersville system. The project will allow the Authority to connect 69 properties thus eliminating direct sanitary sewage discharge into the Schuylkill River.

“This funding is necessary to improve the health of local residents and to improve the quality of our local streams and Schuylkill River,” Argall said. “I am pleased that the PennVEST Board approved this loan.”

PENNVEST provides financial assistance to communities throughout Pennsylvania seeking to improve environmental conditions and safeguard the health of residents.
