Independent Fiscal Office Report Shows Pathway to Passing True Property Tax Elimination, Says Sponsors

HARRISBURG – The three legislators, including state Sens. David G. Argall, R-Schuylkill, Mike Folmer, R-Lebanon, and Rep. Jim Cox, R-Berks, sponsoring legislation to eliminate school district property taxes today released the following statement regarding the Independent Fiscal Office’s analysis of Senate Bill 1400 and House Bill 1776:

“The thorough analysis put together by the Independent Fiscal Office shows we have a real opportunity to pass true property tax elimination. It has always been our goal to have a dollar-for-dollar match to ensure we adequately fund our public schools. This analysis is the most comprehensive report of such a proposal to date and will be a huge asset in crafting amendments and legislation moving forward. We look forward to working with the 76 taxpayer advocacy groups from throughout the state, which helped craft the original legislation, to put forward a bold proposal that ensures we can adequately fund our public schools while achieving true school district property tax elimination.”
