December Argall Report: Fighting Blight

POTTSVILLE – The December edition of the local TV program hosted by Senator David G. Argall (R-Schuylkill/Berks) focuses on a recent committee hearing which discussed blight remediation across Pennsylvania.

“When we fight blight, no one gives a damn if the person doing it is a Republican or a Democrat,” Senator Argall said. “There is a real bipartisan push to tear down dilapidated structures to improve the community and breathe new life into our old towns.”

The Pennsylvania House of Representatives recently held a public hearing to discuss blight and blight remediation. This hearing was requested by Representative Tim Twardzik (R-Schuylkill) and featured officials from across the community including Pottsville City Administrator Thomas Palamar, Mahanoy City Borough Manager Sandra Fish, Pottsville Business Owner Bobby Weaver, and Mary Beth Dougherty, a staff assistant for Senator Argall who also serves on the Pottsville Blight Task Force.

“We’ve seen real progress and we’re not slowing down,” Senator Argall continued. “Representative Twardzik did an excellent job bringing people together to discuss this issue and I hope that we can continue to move forward on the work that all of us, especially the Statewide Blight Task Force, have done to win this battle.”
