May Argall Report: Legislative Victories Against Blight

HARRISBURG – The May edition of the local TV program hosted by Senator David G. Argall (R-29) features recent legislative initiatives championed by Representative Tim Twardzik (R-123) and Senator Argall which seek to eradicate blight and revitalize communities across Pennsylvania.

“Whether you live in Philadelphia, Jim Thorpe, Pottsville, or Hazleton, blight effects all of us,” Senator Argall said. “This is an issue that has assembled a grand coalition of Republicans, Democrats, state officials, and local governments and volunteers in order to tear down old, dilapidated structures and to breathe new life into communities all across Pennsylvania.”

This edition of the Argall Report features a recent tour of Schuylkill County which examined blighted properties and legislation that was crafted in order to address the problem. State Representative Tim Twardzik introduced House Bill 1791 to allow communities to create and maintain a vacant property registration and assessment program to crack down on problem landlords. Senator Argall introduced Senate Bill 439 which expands a law he crafted in 2016 which has raised millions of dollars for counties to tear down dilapidated structures.

“We still have much more work to do,” Senator Argall continued. “This is an issue that has brought together Democrats, Republicans, and Independents in order to make Pennsylvania a better place to live for everyone. To everyone involved in this fight, thank you. Thank you for your time, for your dedication, and for your commitment to our local communities.”
