HARRISBURG – The Senate voted unanimously on Friday, July 8th to confirm A.J. Serina to serve as Schuylkill County Magisterial District Judge. He will fill the vacancy caused by the retirement of Judge James R. Ferrier. Senator Argall recommended Judge Serina’s appointment to the governor, and his nomination received strong, bipartisan support in Schuylkill County.
“It was a pleasure to vote to confirm Judge Serina on the floor of the Senate,” said Argall. “He has a wealth of experience from his time as an Assistant District Attorney and is a pillar of the Schuylkill County community. I could not think of a better candidate for this important judicial position.”
Prior to his confirmation, Judge Serina served as Assistant District Attorney in Schuylkill County. In this role, he prosecuted over eighty trials, including homicides, corrupt organizations, and drug trafficking cases.
Judge Serina has also served as the domestic violence prosecutor and the drug task force prosecutor for the Schuylkill County District Attorney’s office. He received his law degree from Widener University and a master’s degree in criminology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
Judge Serina will now preside over cases in Magisterial District 21-3-03, which covers much of southeastern Schuylkill County including Auburn, Cressona, Deer Lake, East Brunswick, Landingville, New Ringgold, North Manheim, Orwigsburg, Port Clinton, Schuylkill Haven, South Manheim, Walker, Wayne, West Brunswick, and West Penn. He resides in Andreas with his family.
