HARRISBURG – College students interested in state government can now apply for summer internships in Harrisburg through the James A. Finnegan Fellowship Foundation, according to Sen. Dave Argall (R-29), who received an internship through this program during his college tenure.
“This is a great opportunity for Pennsylvania’s future leaders,” said Argall. “The Finnegan Foundation allows college students from across Pennsylvania who are interested in politics and government to take their experience to the next level.”
Internships are awarded through an essay contest. Applicants must write between 1,500 and 2,500 words about a controversial policy currently under consideration by the General Assembly. The 2025 contest asks applicants to write about whether they believe school vouchers should be part of Pennsylvania’s next state budget.
Applicants have until January 24, 2025 to submit their essay and other materials to the foundation. The winners will receive a cash prize and placement in paid state government summer internships in Harrisburg for eight to ten weeks.
