HARRISBURG – The Borough of Jim Thorpe secured a low-interest loan of more than $4.2 million from the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST) to replace outdated water mains today, according to Sen. Dave Argall (R-29) and Rep. Doyle Heffley (R-122). This funding will be used to construct a new, 5,800-foot-long water main under Center Avenue, replacing two existing mains that are more than 100 years old.
“I’m pleased to see this affordable financing option support essential improvements for residents in the 122nd District,” said Heffley. “It’s always gratifying to see opportunities that enhance quality of life while easing the financial burden on our community.”
“I’m grateful Jim Thorpe was able to secure this highly competitive funding to ensure their residents have access to clean water,” said Argall.
PENNVEST funds sewer, storm water, and drinking water projects throughout Pennsylvania.
