HARRISBURG – Local volunteer fire departments and emergency medical services organizations can apply now for grants through the Volunteer Fire Company and Volunteer Ambulance Service Grant Program, according to Senator David G. Argall (R-29).
Grants may be used for the purchase or repair of firefighting or rescue equipment, construction or renovation costs for facilities, training or debt reduction. Awards range from a minimum of $2,500 to a maximum of $15,000 for volunteer fire companies and rescue companies or $10,000 for volunteer ambulance companies.
Volunteer fire companies that also provide volunteer ambulance service are eligible to apply for both a volunteer fire company grant and a volunteer ambulance service grant.
Applications are available now and will be accepted until 4 p.m. on October 17. The online application is available at https://www.osfcegrants.state.pa.us/.
“Volunteer responders are often required to face extremely difficult and dangerous situations that require advanced training and specialized equipment,” Argall said. “Those who donate their time and talents to respond to emergencies deserve to have the tools they need to do the job safely and effectively.”
