BERNVILLE – Senators David G. Argall (R-Schuylkill/Berks) and Mike Folmer (R-Lebanon/Dauphin/York) will participate in a public forum on medical cannabis on Wednesday, February 11 at 6:30 p.m. at the Evangelical Lutheran Friedens Church at 537 N. Main St. in Bernville.
The forum, hosted by the Campaign for Compassion, will provide the public with an opportunity to learn more about medical cannabis and its impact on sick and suffering individuals across the state.
Folmer, the prime sponsor of Senate Bill 3 (also known as the Medical Cannabis Act), and Argall, a co-sponsor of the proposal, will be joined by Luke Shultz, an ambassador for Campaign for Compassion who suffers with chronic pain, and Dana Ulrich, an administrator for Campaign for Compassion and mother of a daughter who suffers from intractable epilepsy.
“This bill needs to get done,” Folmer said. “My biggest fear is getting a phone call from one of the Moms saying their child has passed away because Pennsylvania did not allow them access to this medication. It distresses me to see the suicide rate of our military when medical cannabis can provide relief to post-traumatic stress disorder. We can help so many with this legislation and I am eager to have this bill thoroughly vetted, passed by both the Senate and House and signed into law this year to provide one more arrow in the quiver of Pennsylvanians who are suffering.”
“After meeting with many advocates, including several from Berks County, I am proud to co-sponsor Senator Folmer’s proposal,” Argall said. “As a parent, I’d want every available resource to help my child battle pain and suffering.”
The event is free and open to the public. Registration is not required and light refreshments will be served.
