Mahanoy City, Sen. Argall featured in PA Community Bankers’ February publication

MAHANOY CITY – The February edition of “Transactions,” a publication from the Pennsylvania Association of Community Bankers, features a wide-ranging conversation on fighting blight with Senator David G. Argall (R-Schuylkill/Berks).

The in-depth interview between Sen. Argall and Nick DiFrancesco, President/CEO of the Pennsylvania Association of Community Bankers, highlights local efforts to fight blight in Mahanoy City as well as legislative efforts to give municipalities more tools and power to wage a successful war on blight.

“The statewide exposure to our efforts in Mahanoy City as well as in Schuylkill and Berks Counties can resonate with communities all across the state,” Argall said. “Communities are not alone in their fight against blight and abandonment. This is truly a team effort – starting with the suggestions of local officials that eventually leads to new state laws providing tools.”

Argall and DiFrancesco toured downtown Mahanoy City, stopping at the former Kaier’s Brewery to highlight one of the region’s worst examples of blight. Argall joined local officials on Nov. 14 to outline the redevelopment plan for the site of the former brewery.
