Senator Argall announces fire, EMS grants for 29th District

Over $1.6 million was awarded to local fire companies and EMS organizations throughout the 29th Senatorial District. I’m pleased to see many organizations in Berks and Schuylkill Counties receive these much-needed funds. You can see the complete list here.

Argall’s TV program highlights local charitable food efforts

The latest edition of my monthly television program features the local charitable food efforts and a tour of the Greater Berks Food Bank.

Created in 1983, the Greater Berks Food Bank offers a variety of programs and services targeted to help those at the greatest risk of hunger, including children, senior citizens and low-income families. The organization moved its operations to a new facility in Spring Township in September to better meet the needs of local communities.

In 2013, dedicated volunteers and generous donors combined to serve more than 960,000 meals with food obtained from the Greater Berks Food Bank.

Watch the program here

More information about the Greater Berks Food Bank is available online at www.berksfoodbank.org.

Congratulations, Bill Koch!

Congratulations to William G. Koch for his 45 years of service and dedication to the Berks History Center! On February 5, Senator Judy Schwank and I presented Bill with a congratulatory citation from the Senate of Pennsylvania. Bill served as a board member and treasurer for the Berks History Center

Schuylkill Chamber of Commerce provides update on transportation projects

Last week, the Schuylkill Chamber of Commerce hosted a meeting to provide an update on several local infrastructure projects. I also updated my website for residents of the 29th Senatorial District to find more information about the road and bridge improvements due to Act 89 of 2013, which is providing an additional $2.3 billion annually to improve the state’s infrastructure. The funds are long-overdue for major transportation projects, according to business groups from Berks and Schuylkill Counties.

You can see a complete list and maps on my website by visiting www.SenatorArgall.com à place mouse over “29th District” and select “Transportation Projects” from the dropdown menu.
