Free shredding and identity theft prevention events scheduled for Monday, April 27 in Berks and Schuylkill Counties
Identity theft is a pervasive problem that can cause a significant amount of stress and financial hardship for victims. On Monday, April 27, I will join with my colleagues in the House of Representatives to host several seminars in Schuylkill and Berks Counties to help local residents learn about identity theft and safely dispose of documents that include personal information.
The presentation will reveal the latest tricks criminals are using to steal personal and financial information, tips on how to avoid becoming a victim and steps to take if identity theft is suspected. Participants are urged to bring paper materials they would like to shred free of charge. All items for shredding should be paper-based. Three-ring binders, plastic of any kind and binder clips are prohibited.
In conjunction with Representatives Neal Goodman, Jerry Knowles and Mike Tobash, I invite the public to attend seminars at the following locations:
Mahanoy Area Senior Community Center
Pine Grove Hose Hook & Ladder
Tilden Township Municipal Building
